Our Story
OUR HOTEL
One hundred and twenty years
and not one wrinkle.
The Mamela is one of the oldest hotels on the Island of Capri and yet one of the newest. Rooms, facilities, furniture and finishes are refurbished every year to make sure there is harmony and beauty in every part of the property, wherever you look.
Our Story
1899 - The Foundation
Between the two centuries, the Pagano Vittoria & Germania, one of Capri's first hotels, was born. It was a yellow ochre building on the side of Marina Piccola with an eye-catching irregular outline comprising indents, cantilevers and units of different heights added to the initial building over the years to increase its capacity.
1980 - A new direction
Towards the end of the 1960s, the hotel changed ownership. It was sold to the Maresca family. They entrusted its management to a local hotelier for about a decade. In 1980, a complete renovation began, bringing out the best of the existing building, decorating every corner with the most typical elements of the architecture of Capri.
1991 - Change of name and identity
The Pagano Vittoria & Germania Hotel becomes the Hotel Mamela and a landmark of hospitality on the island. The original design distributed arches, vaults and handcrafted majolica tiles in a different way in each room. White surrounds the exterior and floods the interior of the building, an architectural delight in which to indulge with your eyes wide open.
Today - Lifestyle Hotel
The Mamela is a hotel with a classic structure that features a modern feel, as far as style and services are concerned. It has an international hospitality standard, since most of its guests come from abroad. In addition to the new suites which were added last year, today its guests can enjoy the slow pace in the enchanting setting of the new infinity pool flowing to the sea.
